WORLD Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) Group Managing Director Datuk Sri Dr Irmohizam Ibrahim has officially been given a seat as a member of the National Consumer Advisory Council (Majlis Penasihat Pengguna Negara, MPPN).

Irmohizam, who is also a Board Member of the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA), received the formal letter with regards to the appointment, which is to run from 15 July to 31 December 2026.

The appointment was formalised at a letter presentation ceremony officiated by the Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali and organised by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN).

In his new role, Irmohizam will serve as a policy advisor on key consumer-related matters and will lead the council’s Legal and Policy Focus Group.

“I am truly honoured by this appointment and appreciate the trust placed in me,” he said. “This role offers a meaningful opportunity to strengthen consumer protection in Malaysia and to ensure that the rights and interests of consumers are upheld in an ever-evolving economic and social landscape.”

He added that the appointment also offers a platform to highlight the positive contributions of the business events industry to the national tourism economy.

Bringing extensive leadership experience to the post, Irmohizam is widely recognised as a key figure in Malaysia’s business events sector.

Under his leadership, WTCKL has played a major role in positioning Malaysia as a leading hub for international conferences and exhibitions, bolstering both economic impact and global recognition.

He previously served as Chairman of the Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM) and as a member of the National Agricultural Advisory Council, where he led initiatives to boost industry growth and protect stakeholder welfare in the fisheries and agriculture sectors.

“With my background in public service and industry leadership, I am committed to offering forward-looking solutions that can help raise the standards of consumer protection in Malaysia,” he said.

The ministry’s decision to appoint Irmohizam reflects KPDN’s continued efforts to collaborate with leaders across various sectors to advance a resilient, consumer-centric future for the country.

WTCKL extended its congratulations to Irmohizam and expressed confidence in his continued contributions to raising Malaysia’s profile on the international stage, particularly in the business events industry. - September 20, 2025
