THE upcoming launch of the BUDI Madani RON95 subsidy programme (BUDI95) is expected to close longstanding loopholes in Malaysia’s fuel subsidy system, ensuring that financial assistance reaches only eligible citizens, according to the Youth Wing of the People's Justice Party (AMK).
AMK’s Information Chief Danish Hairudin welcomed the initiative, describing the fixed RON95 price of RM1.99 per litre—capped at 300 litres monthly per eligible citizen—as a decisive move to provide meaningful relief to millions of Malaysians regardless of income background.
"AMK welcomes the implementation of BUDI95. This initiative clearly demonstrates the Unity Government’s commitment to distributing fuel subsidies in a fair, transparent and targeted manner to ease the burden on the people," Danish said in a statement on Monday.
He added that the programme aligns with the principles of the Madani Economy, promoting public well-being, prudent fiscal management and long-term economic sustainability.
Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim confirmed that beginning 30 September, all Malaysian citizens would be entitled to a monthly subsidy quota of up to 300 litres for RON95 petrol under BUDI95. The policy aims to prevent misuse and ensure public funds benefit those who truly need support.
Danish further stressed that targeted subsidies would help ensure that "every sen spent is returned to the people."
He also called on the public to embrace the initiative: "AMK urges all Malaysians to support the implementation of BUDI95 and fully benefit from this programme. This is proof of Malaysia Madani, where the people are prioritised." - September 22, 2025
