"I cannot accept what has happened, especially after 10 years of trying to have children before being blessed with twin boys," said Amirul Ridzuan Abu Bakar.

Amirul Ridzuan, 39, is the father of the one-year-old baby boy who died in an accident involving four vehicles at the Bukit Kajang Toll Plaza, yesterday.

Recounting the incident, Amirul said that his wife, Nurul Husna Khairuddin, 38, along with their children, Amir Husain and Amir Hassan, his father and mother-in-law, went out for breakfast at a restaurant in TTDI Grove in a Honda City.

According to him, he was in Kedah at the time of the incident due to work demands as a lecturer in Perlis.

"At 10.59am, I received an SOS (emergency) message from my wife's phone. I tried to contact her several times, but the call went unanswered.

"After several attempts, finally someone else answered my call and informed me that my wife had been in an accident," he told Harian Metro, today.

Amirul said he was informed that his son, Amir Husain, died from internal bleeding after being thrown out of the car.

"His twin, Amir Hasan, who was receiving treatment at the same hospital, was discharged from the hospital last night and his health will be monitored from time to time," he said.

He said he and his wife tried to have children for about 10 years since they got married in 2013.

"Finally, we were blessed with twin boys who were born on May 20 last year.

"Amir Husain is the younger brother who was born 15 seconds after his older brother, Amir Hasan," he said, adding that Amir Husain's remains were buried at the Sungai Kantan Islamic Cemetery.

According to him, he was sad to see the condition of his wife, who is also a lecturer and is still not ready to share her story about the incident.

The lorry driver who crashed into three vehicles in the fatal accident at the Bukit Kajang Toll Plaza has been remanded for two days to assist investigations.

Kajang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abd Yusof, said so far police have taken five statements, including from the owner of the company that is also the driver's employer.

According to him, following initial investigations, the lorry driver claimed that he jumped out of the vehicle because he was experiencing brake problems.

"The lorry involved in the accident will be sent for further inspection," he said on the accident involving a four-wheel drive Nissan X-Trail belonging to the Public Works Department (JKR), the Honda City car and a Proton X70.

The accident, which occurred at 10.50 am, left the 12-month-old baby boy dead while eight others were injured. - September 28, 2025
