THE implementation of the Budi Madani RON95 (BUDI95) initiative has forced traffic offenders who previously evaded paying their Road Transport Department (RTD) summonses to finally come forward to settle them.
Based on the terms of the programme, only Malaysians who have a valid driving license are eligible to enjoy the RON95 petrol subsidy.
Arrears in summonses will block the renewal of driving licenses and road taxes.
RTD Enforcement Senior Director, Datuk Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan said that yesterday, his department managed to collect summons totalling RM1.3 million from 8,300 summons from traffic offenders.
He said this included speeding offences recorded under the Automatic Safety Awareness System (Awas).
"For the eight months up to yesterday, RTD has recorded a total summons collection of RM132 million," he said in Hulu Selangor as reported by Kosmo!
The Budi95 initiative with RON95 petrol priced at RM1.99 per litre began on September 27 involving approximately 300,000 members of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).
A total of five million STR recipients enjoyed the same benefits the next day before being expanded to 16 million eligible Malaysians from yesterday. - October 1, 2025
