PAKATAN Harapan (PH) has confirmed that there are limited overlaps in seat allocations involving Barisan Nasional (BN) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) in the run-up to Sabah’s 17th state election (PRN17).
PH Secretary-General Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the matter was not extensive and would be clarified in detail at a later media briefing.
“There are some (overlaps), but very minimal. The number will be disclosed in a special press conference soon,” he told reporters at Parliament on Thursday.
Saifuddin added that the coalition is in the final stages of concluding its seat arrangements for PRN17 and would continue discussions on the ground in Sabah.
“After this press conference, I will head to Sabah to proceed with preparations, negotiations, and so on. We are at the tail end of the process. Just a little more to go,” he said.
The seat talks come as the state gears up for a fresh election following the dissolution of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly on 6 October by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. The dissolution was made with the consent of Sabah Governor Tun Musa Aman.
The Election Commission (EC) has announced that it will hold a special meeting on 16 October to determine the key dates and administrative matters related to the election, which will see contests across all 73 state constituencies.
