MALAYSIA’S official position on the United States’ peace proposal for the Israel-Palestine conflict, previously put forward by former President Donald Trump, was a key topic during today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting.
According to the Order Paper published on Parliament’s official website, Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah (BN-Paya Besar) asked the Prime Minister to clarify the extent to which the US-led peace plan aligns with Malaysia’s long-standing principles in defending Palestinian rights and national sovereignty. The question was tabled during the Minister’s Question Time, which commenced at 10am.
Also under the spotlight was the government’s preparedness to deliver a successful Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY2026). Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (PN-Masjid Tanah) sought clarification from the Prime Minister on international promotional strategies, the role of state governments, and whether all expenditure thus far adheres to the principle of value for money.
Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff (PN-Rantau Panjang) raised a question to the Finance Minister regarding the government’s assessment of the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) aid programme’s effectiveness in supporting the B40 income group. She also highlighted concerns over reported delays in disbursement to rural recipients.
Following the oral question session, the sitting continued with the second day of the policy-stage debate on the Supply Bill (Budget 2026).
According to the Dewan Rakyat’s schedule, policy debates will run for eight days from 13 to 28 October, followed by the committee-stage debate from 5 to 27 November. - October 14, 2025
