KEY issues surrounding frozen bank accounts, the misuse of artificial intelligence, and regional green energy projects will take centre stage in today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting, as part of the scheduled question-and-answer session.
According to the official Order Paper, Teresa Kok Suh Sim (PH–Seputeh) will press the Finance Minister on the government’s efforts to enhance coordination between banks, Bank Negara Malaysia and enforcement agencies.
The aim, she will argue, is to expedite appeals for accounts frozen under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities (AMLA) Act 2001, while ensuring the process is more transparent and less onerous for affected account holders.
In a separate question, Datuk Mumtaz Md Nawi (PN–Tumpat) will seek details from the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister regarding a Vietnamese wind energy project that will connect through Kelantan before supplying power to Singapore.
She is also expected to raise broader concerns about the East Coast’s role in regional renewable energy development, particularly in relation to ASEAN-wide sustainability goals.
Artificial intelligence will also feature prominently in today’s session. Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan) is set to question the Communications Minister on measures taken by the Ministry to curb the misuse of AI technology.
This includes tackling threats from deepfake content, voice manipulation, and misinformation spread via generative tools such as ChatGPT, all of which have potential to incite public unrest and racial tensions.
Following the Q&A session, the Dewan Rakyat will continue with its fifth day of policy-stage debate on the Supply Bill (Budget 2026), tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on 18 October.
The policy-stage debate is scheduled to run for eight days until 28 October, followed by a 14-day committee-stage debate from 5 to 27 November.
The Third Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Parliament will span a total of 35 sitting days and is expected to conclude on 4 December. - October 22, 2025
