THE Home Ministry has confirmed that the passport of Datuk Seri Muhammad Adlan Berhan, the son-in-law of former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, has been revoked by the Immigration Department.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the decision followed a request from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in relation to ongoing investigations.
“It has been done — the passport of Muhammad Adlan has been revoked. I was informed by the Immigration Department that MACC had submitted a request for the cancellation of this individual’s passport,” Saifuddin said.
“That revocation has been carried out by the Immigration Department. I can confirm that,” he told reporters after attending the ministry’s Monthly Assembly and 2025 Innovation Day celebration here today.
Saifuddin, however, did not specify when the passport was officially cancelled.
The MACC had earlier reported that Adlan, 49, was believed to be residing in a country that does not have an extradition treaty with Malaysia. He left Malaysia for New Zealand on 17 May 2023, shortly after his father-in-law was charged with several corruption-related offences.
Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said the Royal Malaysia Police had submitted a request to Interpol to locate Adlan, who remains a wanted man.
“We are aware that he is abroad. MACC has taken steps that were not previously known to the public. The actions being taken require cooperation from the relevant foreign authorities, and, God willing, we will do our best to resolve this matter,” he said.
Mohd Khalid added that the police have yet to receive any official feedback from Interpol regarding the request. “Perhaps the MACC can provide further clarification on that,” he said.
Media reports have suggested that Adlan, who fled more than two years ago, is now believed to be living a luxurious lifestyle in a Middle Eastern country. He is wanted by the MACC to face charges of criminal breach of trust. - October 23, 2025
