THE investigation papers (IPs)concerning three police officers detained on 18 September over allegations of extorting a teenage girl to engage in sexual acts have been completed and referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said that disciplinary proceedings against the officers were being carried out concurrently with the criminal investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Kuala Lumpur Police Contingent Headquarters.

“The investigation papers have been completed and referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s Office for further instructions. The police have proposed to charge all the officers under Section 384 of the Penal Code, while one of them also faces an additional charge under Section 354 of the same Act,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

Fadil added that the officers involved remain on duty but are no longer assigned to field operations.

“They will be suspended from duty once instructions to charge them are received,” he said.

The case is being investigated by the Sexual, Women and Children’s Investigation Division (D11) of the Kuala Lumpur CID following reports that went viral on social media in September.

Earlier, an 18-year-old student had lodged a police report alleging that one of the officers threatened to detain her unless she agreed to perform sexual acts in exchange for her release.

The incident reportedly occurred around 1am on a Wednesday when the student and her boyfriend were stopped in front of a restaurant in Sentul. Their mobile phones were confiscated for inspection, and the officers allegedly accused them of an unspecified offence warranting further investigation.

One of the officers is said to have propositioned the girl, suggesting she comply with his request to secure her and her boyfriend’s release. The student refused and later lodged a police report at the Sentul District Police Headquarters on the same day. - October 28, 2025
