POLICE uncovered several entertainment outlets in the capital operating without valid licences, employing foreign workers without permits, and selling alcohol illegally during a special operation early Sunday morning.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the raids, conducted under Op Noda by the Criminal Investigation Department between 2.30am and 5am, targeted six premises across the city following public complaints and ongoing surveillance.

“During the operation, police arrested 14 individuals aged between 22 and 45, comprising one local man, two Chinese nationals, three Indian men, one Bangladeshi man, five Thai women working as guest relations officers (GROs), and two Indonesian women,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

A total of 129 patrons aged between 23 and 50 were also screened for documentation and further checks.

“Investigations revealed that the premises were operating without valid entertainment licences, employing foreign workers without work permits, and selling alcoholic beverages without authorisation,” Fadil said.

Police seized various entertainment equipment, including two DJ systems, four speakers, two amplifiers, four microphones, five business receipts, and five bottles of assorted liquor, as well as RM799 in cash.

Legal action is being taken under Section 4(1) of the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Entertainment Act, Sections 55B, 39(b), and 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act, and Section 76 of the Excise Act 1976.

“Kuala Lumpur police will continue intensifying operations to curb illegal entertainment activities and the employment of undocumented foreign workers in the city’s nightlife sector,” Fadil added. - November 2, 2025
