SEGAMBUT Bersatu deputy chief Adam Radlan Adam Muhammad has been released by the court after paying a compound of RM4.1 million, effectively ending legal proceedings against him over allegations of corruption and money laundering linked to the Jana Wibawa project.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said confirmed that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy public prosecutor had informed the court that Adam Radlan was offered a compound under subsection 92(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLA), which he paid on August 18.
"Following this, the prosecution applied to the court under subsection 254(1) of the Criminal Procedure Code to withdraw all charges, and an order of discharge not amounting to acquittal (DNAA) was granted to the accused," Azalina said in a parliamentary written reply.
She added that the prosecutor exercised discretionary power to discontinue proceedings against Adam Radlan, in line with Article 145(3) of the Federal Constitution, which empowers the public prosecutor to initiate, conduct or discontinue any proceedings for an offence.
Azalina explained that the Sessions Court judge, after considering submissions from both the prosecution and defence counsel, decided to discharge and acquit the accused under subsection 254(3) of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Adam Radlan faced 12 charges in total, comprising five counts of corruption under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009 and seven counts of money laundering under AMLA. - November 5, 2025
