KUALA LUMPUR City Hall (DBKL) will take internal action against one of its senior officers who was charged in court today with accepting a RM50,000 bribe in connection with his official duties.
In a statement, DBKL said it acknowledged the prosecution of its senior officer by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court.
“DBKL emphasises that it will not compromise on any form of misconduct and remains committed to upholding integrity, transparency and good governance in all administrative matters and services to the people of Kuala Lumpur,” the statement read.
Earlier, DBKL’s Executive Director for Project Management, Mohamad Hamim @ Mohamed Kamaruddin, was charged with receiving RM50,000 from an individual related to his official work at the local authority. He pleaded not guilty when the charge was read before the court.
The accused, as a public servant, was alleged to have accepted for himself a valuable item without consideration – a cash sum of RM50,000 – from a person he knew to have dealings connected with his duties at DBKL.
The offence was allegedly committed at No. 15, Jalan Changkat Tunku, Bukit Tunku, on 10 January this year. He was charged under Section 165 of the Penal Code, which provides for a maximum penalty of two years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both, upon conviction. - November 7, 2025
