DAP remains focused on action and delivering on promises, say Loke and Sim

DAP stressed that it is not a party driven by rhetoric, but an action orientated one which has delivered what it had promised for Penang.

Both DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook and state DAP chairman Steven Sim Chee Keong outlined all DAP has successfully carried out in Penang and called upon members to remember the deeds of its veterans.

Although some projects have yet to be fully realised, Loke said it was evident that Penang was on track to further stimulate its economy as one of the leading states in Malaysia.

Penang is about to witness an unprecedented level of infrastructure projects from the Mutiara Light Rail Transit (LRT) line, expansion of the international airport, new highway-level roads, the second Urban Transformation Center in the Penang Sentral and an elevation highway for the Juru-Sungai Dua stretch of the North-South Expressway.

Loke also played a video montage of the proposed LRT and the expansion of the airport in Bayan Lepas.

"It is no longer a dream, it would become a reality in the next few years. Share this message with everyone in Penang," Loke said to a chorus of cheers.

The delegates at the Penang DAP annual conference also booed at Permatang Pauh MP Muhammad Fawwaz Mat Jan for implying in Parliament that the people of Penang do not need an LRT project.

"This MP is trying to sabotage his own state. Tell me which politician does not want development for their own constituency, " said Loke.

Sim took the delegates by surprise by speaking entirely in Hokkien, the domineering local dialect of the Chinese community in Penang.

He paid tribute to Chief Miniter Chow Kon Yeow, his predecessor, who at one time lost in a general election and was working at the state DAP headquarters for a salary of RM800.

He also praised Penang DAP warlord Datuk Seri Phee Boon Poh for his contributions and DAP adviser Lim Guan Eng, whose ideas when he was the chief minister, are now being executed by the current state government.

Sim, who is also the Human Resources Minister, disclosed the development his ministry has undertaken for the state, including a dialysis centre for Sosco members. - November 9, 2025.
