TWO employers were each fined RM10,000 by the Special Sessions Court in Tana Merah, Kelantan for Illegal Immigrants today after pleading guilty to hiring two foreign workers without valid documents last month.
The accused, Marina Hasan, 45, and Pua Choon Sen, 55, entered their pleas after the charges were read before Judge Nik Habri Muhamad.
Marina, from Pengkalan Chepa, was charged with employing a Pakistani national, Muhammad Ayaz, 38, at her grocery shop in Kampung Kedai Buloh, Kota Bharu, around 4.15 p.m. on 1 October. Authorities found that Muhammad Ayaz was working without a valid permit.
Pua Choon Sen was charged with hiring another Pakistani worker, Usama Maqsood, at a company located in the Gua Musang industrial area around 3.30 p.m. on 8 October. Usama was also found to be without valid documentation.
Both were charged under Section 55B of the Immigration Act 1959/63, which carries a fine between RM10,000 and RM50,000, or imprisonment of up to 12 months, or both, for each undocumented worker employed.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Khaidijah Khairuddin prosecuted the case, while both defendants were unrepresented.
Judge Nik Habri imposed a RM10,000 fine on each employer, which both promptly paid. - November 9, 2025
