SEVENTY-NINE out of 1,022 corruption cases reported to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) from January to September this year involved officers and personnel of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said.
He noted that the figures highlight the ongoing need to address integrity within the force.
"As the nation’s primary enforcement agency, it is our responsibility to ensure integrity remains the cornerstone of every action and decision," he said at the Anti-Corruption Recognition and Integrity Month ceremony at the PDRM College in Cheras on Wednesday.
Mohd Khalid urged officers to strengthen a culture of integrity and enhance internal oversight to keep the force free from misconduct and ethical violations.
"Let us continue to reinforce mechanisms for prevention, compliance monitoring, and the cultivation of integrity values at every level of the organisation. We must collectively safeguard the force’s reputation from negative influences that tarnish the PDRM’s name," he said.
The Inspector-General also reported that the Integrity and Standards Compliance Department recorded 1,523 disciplinary investigations this year, including 47 corruption-related cases. He reaffirmed PDRM’s commitment to the Organisational Anti-Corruption Strategy (OACS-PDRM), guided by the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS), to strengthen integrity, governance, and anti-corruption efforts within the force.
During the event, Mohd Khalid presented Anti-Corruption Recognition Certificates to 41 officers and the Integrity Award to eight officers who resisted bribes ranging from RM200 to RM250,000.
"You are role models who should be emulated. May this recognition inspire not only the recipients but all members of PDRM to uphold integrity in every action and decision," he said.
The ceremony also celebrated PDRM’s achievement of the Silver Award in the 2025 Integrity, Governance, and Anti-Corruption Awards (AIGA), announced on October 22.
Mohd Khalid said the accolade demonstrates that the force is on the right path in strengthening policies, compliance standards, and initiatives to foster integrity among its personnel. - November 12, 2025
