THE nation’s immediate support for citizens stranded in flood-hit southern Thailand is set to take centre stage in the Dewan Rakyat today, as MPs turn their attention to cross-border disaster response, monsoon preparations and safeguards for vulnerable communities.
According to the Order Paper, Wong Shu Qi (PH–Kluang) will open Minister’s Question Time by pressing the Foreign Minister on “the government’s immediate actions to aid Malaysians stranded in southern Thailand following the floods” and on the steps being taken “to prevent similar occurrences”.
As severe weather threatens Malaysia’s own east coast, Nurul Amin Hamid (PN–Padang Terap) will seek an update from the Prime Minister on “the current flood situation across all states and the government’s preparatory measures for this monsoon season”.
Consumer and security concerns also feature prominently. Lim Lip Eng (PH–Kepong) will ask the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister about moves by Tenaga Nasional Berhad and enforcement agencies to halt the opening of electricity accounts by unauthorised individuals, and to assure the public that legitimate account holders “will not be held liable for any resulting bills or debts”.
During the Oral Answers session, Mordi Bimol (PH–Mas Gading) plans to question the Finance Minister on the future of the mySalam health protection scheme.
He is seeking clarity on whether funding will be renewed after the RM2 billion allocation made in 2019 was exhausted, and on the administration’s “long-term measures to ensure continued health protection for the B40 group”, including potential integration with the MADANI Medical Scheme.
Technological resilience during emergencies will also come under scrutiny. Datuk Mohd Isam Mohd Isa (BN–Tampin) will ask the Communications Minister to explain the added value of the Mobile Integrated Radio and Internet Communication System (PRIME) compared with current systems used by disaster-response agencies, and to detail how extensively PRIME has been tested in large-scale emergency simulations.
Following Question Time, the House will resume the committee-stage debate on the Supply (Budget) Bill 2026, focusing on allocations for the Higher Education Ministry. - November 27, 2025
