THE Muslim Teachers’ Association (iGuru) has called for a thorough investigation into allegations of misconduct involving teachers detained during a recent raid on a city spa suspected of hosting LGBT activities.
The operation, conducted jointly by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Federal Territories Islamic Department (JAWI), and the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), resulted in the arrest of 201 individuals, including 17 civil servants.
Among those detained were surgeons, deputy public prosecutors, administrative and diplomatic officers, teachers, and enforcement agency personnel, aged between 19 and 60.
Mohd Azizee Hasan, iGuru’s President, stressed the need for stringent action.
“LGBT activities should not be normalised among teachers, as they contradict eastern values, societal morals, and religious principles,” he stated.
He urged the Ministry of Education (KPM) to enforce strict disciplinary measures.
“Behaviours of civil servants, particularly teachers, must uphold integrity and credibility and must not tarnish the teaching profession. There can be no compromise, and KPM must take firm action against any teachers involved,” Mohd Azizee said.
He also encouraged teachers to adhere to ethical standards and public service pledges, maintaining the teaching profession’s respected status.
iGuru reaffirmed its commitment to supporting KPM in combating negative cultural influences within educational institutions and ensuring the teaching profession remains esteemed, principled, and honourable. - November 30, 2025
