KEDAH Perikatan Nasional (PN) will review the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) investigation into one of its Members of Parliament over allegations of graft involving a state-owned cattle farming joint venture.
Kedah Bersatu chairman Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah said he had yet to receive official information on the case, noting that he had only learnt of the arrest through media reports.
“I have not received any reports, I have only seen it in the news. We have not made any decision yet… any decision will be made by the top leadership.
“We will look at the case. Right now it is difficult to judge… nothing is concrete yet,” he said when contacted.
Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor similarly stated that he had not been fully briefed on the MP’s arrest or the details surrounding the investigation.
When asked whether the matter originated from a previous state administration, Sanusi — who also serves as Kedah PN chairman — said the issue would need to be verified.
Meanwhile, Sungai Petani MP Mohammed Taufiq Johari, the sole Pakatan Harapan representative in Kedah, clarified that he is not the MP under investigation.
Kedah has 15 parliamentary constituencies, 14 of which are held by PN.
The MP under investigation was detained by the Kedah MACC yesterday. According to a source, the inquiry — opened in February — centres on allegations that the lawmaker received approximately RM400,000 in exchange for assisting in the acquisition of land-use rights for a state feedlot project.
A complaint was lodged on 10 February, and statements from 15 witnesses have been recorded to date.
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed the arrest, stating that the MP’s statement had been taken under Section 53(3) of the MACC Act before he was released on bail. - December 5, 2025
