THE Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (JSJN) has dismantled a drug distribution syndicate following two separate raids in Selangor and Perak, confiscating syabu, ketamine and six vehicles worth a combined RM13.9 million.
JSJN Director, Datuk Hussien Omar Khan, said six suspects aged between 26 and 46 — including a former police officer — were arrested during the operations.
“The first raid was carried out at a supermarket in Petaling Jaya, where five suspects were detained.
“Upon inspection, officers found 17 sacks containing 270 kilograms of what is believed to be syabu and ketamine, packed in 263 plastic packets, with an estimated market value of RM13.8 million,” he said at a press conference at the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters today.
A sixth suspect was apprehended in a second operation at the Simpang Pulai rest and service area.
“All the suspects have prior criminal records and have been remanded for seven days.
“The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment and 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction,” he said.
Datuk Hussien added that the raids were the result of continuous intelligence-gathering by JSJN, bolstered by tip-offs from members of the public.
