THE government will review the implementation of the circular issued by the Office of the Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) in 2020, following the recent incident where two women were stopped from entering a police station for allegedly dressing inappropriately.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, would improve the circular, including providing exemptions to frontline services such as police stations and the health sector.
“Among those being considered is the exemption of frontline services such as health and safety, including police stations, from the regulations in the circular. However, the matter is still under review by the KSN and his office.
“We expect a new statement and circular to be issued in the near future.
"Meanwhile, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also believes that in security issues involving police stations, for those who want to make a report, there should be no circumstances that prevent them from doing so," he said.
He said this at a press conference in Parliament today.
Earlier, two women were reportedly barred from entering a District Police Headquarters (IPD) in Melaka after their attire was deemed inappropriate for being on government premises. – December 10, 2025
