POLICE in Negeri Sembilan are investigating the shooting of a man in a forested area near Kampung Maasop, Senaling, Kuala Pilah, which they suspect may have been carried out by illegal hunters.
The 49-year-old victim was reportedly collecting petai when he sustained multiple injuries from a shotgun blast.
State Police Chief, Datuk Alzafny Ahmad, confirmed that the incident occurred around 10 a.m. yesterday and that no suspects have yet come forward.
“The victim was hit with pellets from a shotgun,” he said, noting that evidence has been collected from the scene. “Several marks were observed on his body, neck, and face, consistent with the type of ammunition used.”
The injured man was initially taken to Hospital Tuanku Ampuan Najihah (HTAN) in Kuala Pilah before being transferred to Hospital Serdang, Selangor. Police have described his condition as stable.
Alzafny urged members of the public with information to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
“We are actively seeking both the suspect and witnesses. As of now, no one has reported to the station or provided information,” he stated.
He acknowledged that while temporary hunting licences are issued for wild boar hunting in Negeri Sembilan, the possibility of illegal hunting in the area cannot be ruled out.
“We are examining all angles and elements in this case,” he added.
The shooting is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder and Section 3 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971.
Killing In Jalan Rasah Possibly Gang Related
In a separate but possibly related violent incident, police have arrested three suspects in connection with a shooting on 10 December near Jalan Rasah, close to the Port Dickson toll plaza, which resulted in the death of a personal security officer.
“So far, three arrests have been made, and a pistol along with several rounds of ammunition were seized,” Alzafny said.
Investigations are ongoing to trace additional suspects.
Alzafny made the remarks during the ‘FRU 70th Anniversary FitRun 2025’, a public event in collaboration with the Negeri Sembilan Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JHEAINS), attended by around 500 participants and inaugurated by the state Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
Commenting on the motive behind the recent violent incidents, Alzafny suggested a link to gang-related revenge.
“We are investigating to identify the suspects, gather evidence, and bring those responsible to justice,” he said, reiterating the call for public cooperation.
The December 10 shooting involved two local men who were critically injured inside their Perodua Myvi before being rushed to hospital by bystanders. One of the victims later succumbed to his injuries. - December 13, 2025
