POLICE confirmed they have opened an investigation paper regarding allegations that a member of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) brandished a weapon during an arrest in the Sepang district on November 28.
According to Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Shazeli Kahar, the Sepang District Police Headquarters (IPD) received a police report from a woman regarding the raid and arrest of her husband by MACC enforcement officers.
According to him, the arrest was carried out under Section 16(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
"However, the woman involved claimed that during the operation, one of the MACC officers pointed a gun at her and her husband.
"Following the report, the police have opened a Police Inquiry Paper (KEP) to investigate the allegation," he said in a statement, on Monday.
Previously, the media reported that the wife of businessman, Albert Tei filed a police report following concerns about her husband's safety and urged an investigation into the actions of several MACC officers during the raid.
In the report, Lee Pei Rie claimed that one of the MACC officers pointed a gun at her during the raid carried out by the anti-corruption agency at their home.
Meanwhile, Shazeli stressed that the investigation would be conducted transparently and professionally in accordance with existing legal provisions.
"All parties involved will be called to give statements to ensure that each allegation is assessed comprehensively and fairly.
"Selangor police calls on the public to give the authorities space to complete the investigation and not to make any speculation or spread unverified information that could affect the investigation process.
"Appropriate action can be taken against any party that spreads false news or tries to disrupt the ongoing investigation," he said.
On December 4, Albert Tei was charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court, on four counts of giving a bribe of RM176,829.03, namely RM140,000 in cash and furniture and electrical goods worth RM36,829 to the former Senior Political Secretary to the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin.
All the charges levied were related to approval to obtain a mineral exploration license in Sabah. – December 15, 2025
