A 14-YEAR-OLD schoolgirl lost her life in a tragic road accident last night after the motorcycle she was riding on collided with a car along Jalan Paya Besar-Sungai Seluang near Taman Sawi here.

According to Kulim District Police Chief, Superintendent Zulkifli Azizan, the incident occurred at approximately 10.30 pm when the teenage victim, a Form Two student, was riding on a motorcycle with a 21-year-old male companion.

The pair were travelling straight from Kulim Square towards Paya Besar when a Perodua Axia reportedly emerged suddenly from the Taman Cendawan junction, turning right into their path.

“The motorcycle was unable to avoid the vehicle and struck the right side of the car,” Superintendent Zulkifli said.

“The young girl suffered severe head injuries and her right leg was severed. She was pronounced dead at the scene by medical officers from Kulim Hospital.”

Her male companion sustained serious head injuries and is currently receiving treatment in the hospital’s emergency ward.

Witnesses reported that members of the public had taken the car driver for medical attention, but police investigators later found that the driver could not be located at the hospital.

“The preliminary investigation indicates that the accident resulted from the car driver’s negligence while exiting the junction,” Superintendent Zulkifli added.

The victim’s body was transported to the Forensic Unit of Kulim Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution, particularly when navigating junctions, as the investigation into the fatal collision continues. - December 17, 2025
