PASSENGERS on a long-distance express bus faced a tense moment when the vehicle collided with a trailer on Endau Bridge, Kilometer 159 of the Kuantan–Johor Bahru road, on Friday.

The incident occurred at approximately 11.20 pm, but fortunately, the bus driver and all 30 passengers escaped without injury.

Rompin District Police Chief, Superintendent Sharif Shai Sharif Mondoi, reported that preliminary investigations indicate the Sino Truck trailer, carrying steel rods, was travelling from Kuantan to Johor Bahru at the time of the crash.

“The express bus, which was en route from Johor Bahru to Kuantan before continuing to Kelantan, is believed to have lost control upon reaching the bridge, veering into the opposite lane and colliding with the trailer,” Sharif Shai said in a statement on Saturday.

He added that the front sections of both vehicles sustained damage as a result of the collision, but all occupants were unharmed.

The accident has been classified under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 (LN 166/59). Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the investigating officer at 013-9250001 or visit the nearest police station to assist with inquiries.

“Meanwhile, we advise the public to always exercise caution and comply with traffic regulations,” Sharif Shai added. - December 27, 2025
