THE Perlis Menteri Besar's office will appoint a coordinator to ensure the welfare of the people in the three State Legislative Assembly (DUN) constituencies that were affected by the unexpected vacancies continue to be taken care of.

According to Perlis Menteri Besar, Abu Bakar Hamzah, his office will appoint a coordinator to manage the representative service centres in the Chuping, Bintong and Guar Sanji DUNs.

"The administration of the constituencies will be handled by the Perlis MB's office where we will open service centres in all three and appoint area coordinators there.

"We are not running away from the Perikatan Nasional administration, so when the service centres are opened in those constituencies, we will also refer to the PAS leadership (because) those are their constituencies," he said.

He said this when commenting on the Perlis State Assembly's decision to withdraw the notification of a by-election for the three seats after taking into account current developments and assurances of political cooperation at the state level.

Although there is no by-election, the contingency vacancies for the three seats remain in effect as per the letter dated 29 December 2025.

Meanwhile, Abu Bakar also announced that the list of candidates for the State Executive Council will be submitted to the Raja of Perlis soon to complete the state administration structure.

He explained that the state administration cannot stop and must continue to move even without the presence of elected representatives in the three areas.

“I expect next week, God willing. I will submit the list of names of the Exco candidates to His Royal Highness the Raja of Perlis to make the appointments. – January 1, 2026
