AT least four people were killed in two separate road accidents in Negeri Sembilan and Johor on Tuesday, prompting renewed warnings from police on the dangers of careless driving.
In Negeri Sembilan, two Universiti Teknologi MARA students lost their lives after the motorcycle they were riding is believed to have skidded off the road along Jalan Chengkau–Panchang–Lubok Cina in Rembau.
Rembau district police chief Superintendent Hasani Hussain said the accident occurred at about 4pm. The victims were identified as Ismawanie Husna Ismail, 19, and Nur Ain Zulaisya Zahrain, 19, both students at UiTM Rembau.
“Initial investigations found that the accident occurred when the two victims, who were Diploma in Information Management and Diploma in Communication and Media students, were travelling from UiTM Rembau towards Pekan Lubok Cina in good weather conditions,” he said in a statement on Tuesday night.
“When they reached a bend in the road, the Yamaha NVX motorcycle ridden by Ismawanie Husna is believed to have lost control before skidding to the left side of the road and crashing into a guardrail,” he added.
Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene due to head injuries. Their bodies were sent to Rembau Hospital for post-mortem examinations, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
In a separate incident in Johor Bahru, two men were killed in a collision involving four vehicles in a residential area along Jalan Dedap 1, Taman Johor Jaya.

Seri Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Sohaimi Ishak said the crash was reported at 3.20pm and involved a Nissan GT-R, a Kia Picanto and two Perodua Axia cars.
“Initial investigations found that the driver of the Nissan GT-R lost control at the scene and entered the opposite lane before colliding with a Kia Picanto driven by a 58-year-old woman, as well as two Perodua Axia vehicles driven by local men aged 30 and 29,” he said in a statement.
“The collision caused the vehicles to veer onto the right shoulder of the road, with the driver of the Nissan GT-R confirmed dead at the scene,” he added.
The 30-year-old driver of one of the Perodua Axia vehicles, who suffered severe head injuries, later died while receiving treatment at Sultan Ismail Hospital. Four other individuals sustained minor injuries.
Sohaimi said the case is also being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and urged motorists to comply with traffic regulations and practise considerate driving for the safety of all road users.
