TWO teenagers were found dead in a vehicle parked in the Bandar Sejati Walk area, Batu 7, Sandakan, this morning.
The bodies of the 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl were found by the father of one of the victims in the back passenger seat of the vehicle at about 8.26 am.
Sandakan Deputy District Police Chief, Superintendent K Ramasamy, said that initial investigations found that the victims involved were believed to be in a relationship.
“Acting on information, a team of police officers together with the Sabah Contingent Headquarters (IPK) Forensic Unit went to the scene of the incident and found both victims in the back passenger seat of a vehicle.
“Further inspection found that all the vehicle windows were closed tightly and locked, while no valuables were reported missing,” he said in a statement.
According to him, initial investigations also found that the two victims could not be contacted by their respective family members since last Friday.
“However, the father of one of the victims found his vehicle at the location before finding the duo in the car.
“Results of the initial examination of the bodies of both victims found that there were no signs of injury, and so far, the initial police investigation has not found any elements of crime or foul play,” he said.
Ramasamy said the bodies of both victims had been handed over to the Forensic Department of the Duchess of Kent Hospital, Sandakan for post-mortems to identify the exact cause of death.
"Further investigations are still ongoing, and the public is advised not to make any speculation that could interfere with the investigation.
"Give the police space to conduct a thorough investigation," he said. – January 11, 2026
