MOF announces minor fuel price reductions for non-subsidised petrol and diesel
The Government has announced modest cuts in the retail prices of non-subsidised RON95, RON97 petrol and diesel in Peninsular Malaysia, effective 15 January 2026 - January 14, 2026

PUTRAJAYA has confirmed a small reduction in fuel prices for non-subsidised petrol and diesel across Peninsular Malaysia, following the latest review of global oil price movements.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Finance (MOF), the price of RON95 petrol will decrease by 2 sen to RM2.52 per litre, RON97 by 3 sen to RM3.08 per litre, and diesel by 5 sen to RM2.84 per litre, effective from 15 January to 21 January 2026.

The government reaffirmed that petrol prices under the subsidised BUDI95 programme will remain unchanged at RM1.99 per litre, while diesel prices in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan will continue at RM2.15 per litre.

“These adjustments are made in line with the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM) and reflect current global oil market trends. Price stability remains a top priority for the government while ensuring the welfare of the rakyat is maintained,” the ministry said in its announcement.

The Ministry of Finance emphasised that retail fuel prices will continue to be reviewed regularly and adjusted as necessary, in response to international oil market fluctuations, to strike a balance between market realities and affordability for Malaysian consumers.

Under the new pricing structure, motorists in Peninsular Malaysia can expect slight relief at the pump, although the government noted that monitoring and measures will continue to ensure public welfare remains safeguarded. - January 14, 2026
