A 41-YEAR-OLD male teacher from a local primary school has maintained his innocence at the Sessions Court here today after being hit with four charges of committing physical sexual assault against four male students between 2024 and 2025.

The accused, Mohamad Kamal Nik Ismail, entered his plea before Judge Datin Surita Budin following the reading of the charge sheets.

According to the separate charges, the accused allegedly committed acts of physical sexual assault, including stroking the buttocks and touching the genitals of four boys who were twelve years old at the time of the incidents.

The offences were reportedly carried out at the Textbook Loan Scheme operation room, the staff room, and a location adjacent to the school hall at a facility in Senawang between June 2024 and September 2025.

Consequently, the accused is charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries a maximum penalty of twenty years in prison and caning.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Norazihah Asmuni initially requested bail be set at 30,000 Ringgit for each charge with three additional conditions, confirming that the relationship between the accused and the victims was that of a teacher and his pupils.

The accused, who appeared without legal representation, appealed for a minimum bail amount. He informed the court that he is married without children and noted that he has been temporarily stationed at a teacher activity centre since last month.

The court subsequently granted bail at 9,000 Ringgit for each charge.

The release is subject to the conditions that the accused does not interfere with the victims or prosecution witnesses and reports to the nearest police station monthly until the conclusion of the case.

The matter has been set for mention on February 23 for the appointment of a lawyer and the submission of documents. - January 16, 2026
