INK marking for the Kinabatangan Parliamentary and Lamag State Legislative Assembly by-elections will be done on the little finger of the left hand of voters during the polling day, which will be held tomorrow.
Election Commission (EC) Secretary, Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus a total of 48,282 ordinary voters will vote in the by-election.
"The EC has carried out a process of checking voting equipment such as ballot boxes, election ink, ballot papers, and so on for use on polling day in the Kinabatangan Parliamentary and Lamag State Legislative Assembly by-elections.
"A total of 1,106 officers will be handling the voting process. A total of 36 ordinary polling centres containing 117 polling stations or channels will be used for the by-elections.
"In addition, permanent ink marking in this by-election will be made on the little finger of the left hand of voters," he said in a statement.
Khairul Shahril hopes that all voters will carry out their responsibility by voting on polling day.
Voters are advised not to vote at the last minute and are encouraged to vote according to the recommended voting time as recorded in the MySPR Semak application.
"The EC also wishes to inform that two polling centres will close at 12 noon, while 34 polling centres for this by-election will be closed in stages from 1 pm until 5.30 pm according to the set voting time," he said.
He added that voters are also reminded to bring their identity cards and voting information records and show them to the polling clerks at the polling stations.
"The voting information record will make it easier for the clerks to check the names of voters and help the voting process run smoothly on polling day.
"Therefore, voters are advised to check their voting information in advance to find out the information of the polling centre, voting channel and their number via the checking portal at the link https://mysprsemak.spr.gov.my or contact the SPR Hotline at 03-8892 7018 or via the MySPR Semak application.
"Voters are reminded not to hand over their identity cards to parties other than election officials," he said.
The EC also reminded employers to allow a reasonable period for their employees who are registered as voters to vote in the by-election as provided for under the Election Offences Act 1954.
The by-election is held following the death of the incumbent, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, on December 5 last year. – January 23, 2026
