DATUK Seri Rafizi Ramli intends to write a letter to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail regarding the attack on his son.
The former Economy Minister also plans to propose a No Further Action (NFA) status because no developments have been reported six months after the attack.
“If it feels like this investigation is going nowhere, I will personally write a letter to the Prime Minister, Home Minister and PDRM to propose that this investigation be stopped and this case be NFA-ed,” he said in a post on his Instagram today.
According to Rafizi, he only knew about the progress of the investigation from media reports, which were last November.
Saifuddin, through a written response in Parliament on Tuesday, stated that the Home Ministry would not publicly disclose information about the investigation into the attack on the son of the Pandan MP in the Dewan Rakyat on the grounds that it would disrupt the process of tracking down the suspect, as well as jeopardizing the safety of important witnesses.
He also assured that justice would be upheld without compromise and any further developments would be announced through official statements from the Home Ministry and the Royal Malaysian Police.
“I am grateful to the Home Minister’s response because it confirmed two things, namely the meeting with me on Dec 1 and sharing information on the progress and angles of the investigation into the case,” said Rafizi when commenting on Saifuddin’s response.
He added that he and his family were also calm and prayed instead of relying on human discretion so that such incidents would not happen again to anyone in this country.
“The one who has to defend his reputation in the eyes of the people is not my son who was attacked, the one who has to answer to the people later is only the bigwigs. They know what answer they will be given one day,” he added.
In the incident on August 13 last year, Rafizi's only son, aged 12, was attacked by an unknown individual at a shopping mall in Putrajaya.
PDRM reported that 19 individuals had been called to give statements, including Rafizi's family members, drivers and employees, as well as the management of the premises concerned. – January 30, 2026
