THE Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have escalated efforts to track down the remaining members of the notorious ‘Kapten Praba’ gang, including suspects believed to have fled the country via unofficial channels.
The move forms part of a nationwide operation, Ops Jack Sparrow, aimed at eradicating the entire syndicate.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) Director Datuk M. Kumar said police remain confident that several suspects are still at large and are being pursued relentlessly.
“We are chasing them. Some of them, we believe, have left the country using unofficial routes. But there is one thing I want to say – you can run, but you cannot hide from the PDRM forever,” he said during the 2026 PDRM Community Policing Programme ‘Thaneer Panthal’ at the Sri Subramaniam Swamy Temple in Batu Caves today.
Kumar emphasised that law enforcement action will be taken against any individual involved, regardless of their location, to ensure the syndicate is completely dismantled. “You cannot hide from us. We will pursue you,” he added.
The announcement follows reports that three gang members were apprehended in Mumbai, India, last Sunday and subsequently brought back to Malaysia to face charges at the Sepang Sessions Court on Wednesday.
Kumar confirmed that the arrests were made under Ops Jack Sparrow, in accordance with warrants issued on 14 January 2026.
He added that the police operation is not solely aimed at apprehending individual offenders but is intended to disrupt and dismantle the entire support network sustaining the Kapten Praba syndicate.
“Our goal is to neutralise the full chain of criminal activities and ensure that no part of this organised crime network remains operational,” Kumar said. - January 31, 2026
