HOUSING and Local Government Minister, Nga Kor Ming, has slammed the attitude of PAS leaders who often consider the actions of others as haram even if they are well-intended.
Nga said, on the contrary, if it is done by their party, everything is good and acceptable.
"Don't follow the habits of PAS; everything they do is halal, but when others do good things, it is considered haram.
"In a multi-racial society like Malaysia, the practice of mutual respect is important, and people should not be separated by skin colour or religious beliefs," he said via his Facebook page on Friday.
Earlier, Nga's action of using various 'Islamic phrases' during his ministry's winding-up speech sparked questions from a PAS MP who warned him not to 'mislead the people'.
Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff (PN-Rantau Panjang), who stood up to interrupt Nga's speech during the winding-up session of the debate on the motion to honour the Royal Address of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), also directly asked the Teluk Intan MP if he was 'already a believer'.
At the same time, Nga stressed that within the Madani framework, there is respect and kindness.
He explained that all parties should not be inclined towards issues that conflict with unity.
"We as Malaysians must respect Islam as the religion of the Federation … when did I use inappropriate words?
"Malaysians are made up of Malays, Chinese, Indians, Kadazan, Iban and Dayak. We are all one in spirit.
"After all, Alhamdulillah is the Arabic word for gratitude," he said. – February 6, 2026
