MALAYSIA’S role as a diplomatic facilitator in the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia, and the implications of that role for the country’s international standing, were among the key issues raised in the Dewan Rakyat as Parliament convened on Monday.
According to the Order Paper published on Parliament’s official website, Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad (BN–Simpang Renggam) directed a question to the Foreign Minister during the oral question-and-answer session, which began at 10am, seeking clarification on Malaysia’s involvement and its impact on the nation’s credibility at the global level.
In the same session, Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa (PH–Sekijang) questioned the Prime Minister on the current status and official operational date of the Automated Rapid Transit system in Putrajaya, noting that a pilot phase had already been carried out.
The former Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department for Federal Territories also sought details on planned route expansions in the next phase, aimed at improving first- and last-mile connectivity to government complexes and existing transport hubs in order to ease traffic congestion in the country’s administrative capital.
Separately, Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff (PN–Rantau Panjang) raised questions with the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security on high-impact projects that have been implemented or are currently underway nationwide. She requested information on their scope, locations and funding allocations, as well as the government’s broader efforts under the National Food Security programme.
The sitting later continued with the first reading of the Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System Link Bill 2026, tabled by the Home Minister.
This was followed by winding-up speeches from the relevant ministries on the motion of thanks for the Royal Address, marking the continuation of parliamentary business for the day. - February 9, 2026
