THE Dewan Rakyat is expected to focus on foreign relations, public health and environmental policy when it convenes today, with Members of Parliament tabling questions on the outcomes of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Malaysia and the country’s response to emerging tuberculosis clusters.
According to the Order Paper published on Parliament’s official website, Lim Guan Eng (PH–Bagan) has submitted questions to the Foreign Minister during the Ministers’ Question Time on the implications of Modi’s visit, joint measures by Malaysia and India in response to United States tariffs, as well as efforts to restore democracy and peace in Myanmar.
In the same session, Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi (PN–Kuala Langat) is scheduled to ask the Health Minister to provide the latest breakdown of tuberculosis clusters by state, the number of active cases still under monitoring, and specific control measures being implemented at high-risk institutions such as boarding schools and prisons.
Environmental concerns will also be raised, with Khoo Poay Tiong (PH–Kota Melaka) seeking clarification from the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability on the factors behind the government’s decision to ban the import of electronic waste with effect from 4 February, as well as the ministry’s plans to dispose of e-waste that had previously entered the country illegally.
During the question-and-answer session, Lee Chuan How (PH–Ipoh Timor) will direct a question to the Transport Minister on the status of ticket sales and the number of additional tickets offered for Electric Train Service and Ekspres Timuran services operated by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad during the Chinese New Year and Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive periods.
Also listed is a question by Roslan Hashim (PN–Kulim Bandar Baharu) to the Home Minister on proposals to expunge the records of former prisoners as a means of easing their return to employment.
