FINANCIAL savings arising from the implementation of the BUDI MADANI RON95 targeted subsidy scheme, economic development in the East Coast states and wage levels for local workers are among the key issues to be raised in the Dewan Rakyat today.
According to the Order Paper published on Parliament’s official website, Fong Kui Lun (PH–Bukit Bintang) has tabled a question for the Finance Minister on the amount of savings achieved through the BUDI MADANI RON95 programme, also known as BUDI95, over the past year, as well as projected savings for the current year.
Fong is also seeking clarification on how these savings are being channelled to ease cost-of-living pressures and to strengthen targeted assistance for households in the B40 and M40 income groups.
Regional development is also expected to feature prominently in the oral question session. Datuk Dr Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh (PN–Pasir Puteh) has asked the Economy Minister to outline the government’s plans to ensure sustained economic progress for communities and states along the East Coast, with the aim of narrowing the development gap with the more rapidly growing West Coast.
Labour market issues will be raised by Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng (BN–Tanjung Piai), who has directed a question to the Human Resources Minister on strategies to strengthen collaboration between training institutions and the private sector. He is seeking details on how such partnerships can ensure wage growth keeps pace with rising skill levels among the local workforce.
Youth development policies are also on the agenda. Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar) has submitted a question to the Youth and Sports Minister regarding the Perdana Fellowship programme, including whether its implementation has been postponed and whether the ministry plans to introduce a new programme with an improved structure and module.
Following the conclusion of the question-and-answer session, the Dewan Rakyat will proceed with the first readings of two bills.
The Finance Minister is scheduled to table the Distribution by Number of Persons Bill 2026, while the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability will present the Environmental Quality (Amendment) Bill 2026.
