THE woman accused of committing an act of criminal violence against the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, during the state-level National Day celebration last August, has submitted a formal representation seeking to have the charges against her dropped.
Nurhaswani Afni Mohamad Zorki, 41, filed the representation with the Attorney General’s Chambers on 6 February, her lawyer Zulzarif Zakuan confirmed on Friday.
“The defence counsel and the prosecution are still discussing to find the best possible resolution given the public interest nature of this case,” Zulzarif said.
He added that no decision had been made on the representation as of yesterday, and Magistrate Mohd Harith Mohd Mazlan has adjourned the matter until 1 April.
Nurhaswani Afni was previously denied the opportunity to plead guilty when she appeared at the Ipoh Magistrate’s Court on 8 October. She is accused of attempting to attack Sultan Nazrin in front of the Ipoh Municipal Hall on Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab at around 8.20am on 31 August 2025.
She faces charges under Section 352 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of three months’ imprisonment, a fine of up to RM1,000, or both if convicted.
The case first came before the same court on 8 September, but no plea was recorded as the accused was ordered to undergo observation and monitoring at Hospital Bahagia for one month under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code. - February 12, 2026
