KUALA LUMPUR – A senior staff member of the MCA Public Services and Complaints Department has tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday.

In a statement issued yesterday, MCA immediately shut the office of the said department in Level 7 of Wisma MCA for a thorough sanitisation.

Meanwhile, The Star reported that it is Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong who tested positive and is currently self-isolating at home.

He was quoted as saying that he got tested for Covid-19 after several of his friends who attended a gathering with him on December 26 experienced several Covid-like symptoms.

“My friends called me three days ago and asked if I have any symptoms because many of them had experienced symptoms.

“I’m just tired but I still feel okay. So, me and my friends got tested on Wednesday.

“I was told to be in isolation and if there are any symptoms, then only will I be hospitalised,” he told The Star.

He added that he will also be working from home.

MCA has, meanwhile, arranged for all staff of the department to undergo Covid-19 tests.

Meanwhile, Wisma MCA's management has carried out sanitisation works for the entire building in accordance with the pandemic prevention guidelines and SOPs by the Health Ministry, particularly for public areas. – The Vibes, January 1, 2021
