9 out of 13 MA63 issues resolved, Borneanisation agenda continues to be strengthened
The meeting related to MA63 scheduled for February 28 has been postponed to March 2, said Mustapha - February 24, 2026

THE implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) continues to show positive developments, with nine of the 13 main points previously agreed upon successfully resolved under the MADANI Government.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs), Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, said the achievement reflected the Federal Government's continued commitment to ensuring that the rights and interests of Sabah and Sarawak are protected in line with the spirit of MA63.

He said the developments were also communicated to Federal civil servants in Sarawak so that they understand the progress during the implementation of MA63, which is being closely monitored by the government.

“Still under discussion, but as I mentioned earlier, in terms of the Borneanisation agenda, it is getting better. Sarawak is about 87 per cent, meaning that civil servants in Sarawak are Sarawakians themselves.

“In Sabah, it is about 71 per cent, which is actually getting better,” he said.

He also said that the meeting related to MA63 scheduled for February 28 has been postponed to March 2 to give the technical committee time to resolve several outstanding matters, including the issue of the 40 per cent revenue claim.

According to him, the government is committed to ensuring that all issues still under discussion can be finalised through ongoing negotiations between the Federal Government and the state governments of Sabah and Sarawak. – February 24, 2026
