ARRESTS have been made in connection with an incident where shots were fired at the Commander of the Bukit Kayu Hitam Border Control and Protection Agency’s vehicle yesterday.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the interrogation process is currently underway.

"We made arrests in less than 24 hours. The interrogation process is currently underway," he said without elaborating on the number of arrests made.

He said this during Ministerial Question Time (MQT) in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Saifuddin said MCBA personnel regularly confront various cross-border crimes, including weapons, drugs and human trafficking, as well as illegal immigrants and organised crime syndicates.

In the incident at 5.40 am yesterday, two men on a motorbike approached a Proton X70 driven by Senior Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasaruddin M Nasir to a mosque to perform Subuh prayers and fired several shots.

Nasaruddin was appointed as the Bukit Kayu Hitam MCBA Commander in January 2025.

He previously served as the chief of staff of the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM) Special Task Force.
