DATUK Seri Anwar Ibrahim wants efforts to increase public awareness in combating online fraud cases to be the main focus.

In addition, the Prime Minister also wants enforcement actions to be increased, including strengthening operations through the National Fraud Response Centre (NSRC).

Home Minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, said the Prime Minister's brief message was delivered to NSRC officers during a visit to the operations centre on Level 17, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Tower, today.

He said the Prime Minister wants the organisation of public awareness programmes to be intensified and expanded to ensure that the people do not easily become victims of online fraud.

"The Prime Minister stressed the importance of awareness-raising programmes so we do not get involved (in fraud), which are sometimes driven by greed or offers that are considered very lucrative," he said.

He said this at a press conference after the launch of the NSRC operations centre by the Prime Minister, here today.

Also present was Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. – March 3, 2026
