Rumah Bangsa not safe, full of 'ghosts' - says Hadi Awang

"PAS is steadfast and not affected by the bait and deceit of the devil and his allies, which have been an outdated weapon among the ignorant Umno," he said.

PAS is not prepared to be part of the Rumah Bangsa idea offered by Umno because it is regarded as an ‘unsafe political structure’, said its president, Abdul Hadi Awang.

He said the idea introduced by Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is similar to a damaged shelter that is unable to protect those under it.

According to the Marang MP, Rumah Bangsa is like taking shelter under an umbrella that has suffered a lot of damage and cannot withstand heavy rain.

"It would be even more dangerous if it eventually becomes a house without a roof and walls, where ghosts can enter and become 'penuggu', putting all others inside at risk," he said.

He said that PAS had previously sent observers to a meeting regarding the initiative to see for themselves the parties involved after receiving an invitation from the organisers.

However, according to Abdul Hadi, the meeting was seen as an effort to bring together Malay unity based solely on national spirit without making Islam the core.

"Even without the presence of DAP representatives (at the meeting), PAS was able to read everything that was implied," he said.

At the same time, he also raised questions about Umno's political relations with other parties, which he said raised doubts about the party's original principles and struggles.

“This is because they remain friendly and loyal to DAP solely to form a government, even though they have to abandon the original principles of their struggle.

He added that this situation has caused political cooperation to be built without limits, to the point that one is willing to work with various parties.

He also claimed that this approach was accompanied by various practices that he said were not in line with religious principles.

"PAS is steadfast and not affected by the bait and deceit of the devil and his allies, which have been an outdated weapon among the ignorant Umno," he said.

He also claimed that the approach was only able to attract the support of certain voters.

Abdul Hadi stressed that young voters are increasingly rejecting party coalitions that he said are working with parties considered to be PAS’s political enemies.

“As for young voters who are starting to think more maturely, they have rejected PH since the 15th GE just as they rejected BN before,” he added. – March 12, 2026
