PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reaffirmed that national progress must be shared by all citizens rather than concentrated among a privileged elite, as he urged members of Parti Keadilan Rakyat to strengthen the party’s reform agenda.

Speaking after attending a mini party convention and officiating the Sarawak branch annual general meeting, the PKR president said the party had remained steadfast in its founding mission to drive change, uphold justice and elevate the dignity of Malaysians across the country.

“This afternoon, I had the opportunity to attend the PKR Mini Convention and officiate the Sarawak branch Annual General Meeting.

“I consider meetings with the extended party family extremely important because PKR is not merely a political organisation, but a platform born from the determination to bring about change, uphold justice and elevate the dignity of the people as a whole,” he said in a Facebook post today.

Anwar said the party had consistently served as a platform representing voices from diverse communities and regions, including advocating for native customary land rights in Sarawak and addressing welfare concerns in Sabah, Kelantan, Perlis and Johor.

He added that Malaysia’s stability and strength depend on prioritising shared national interests above narrow sentiments based on ethnicity, locality or faction.

During the convention, Anwar also called on party leaders, members and activists to reinforce unity within the movement and remain committed to implementing the reform agenda.

“I also stressed that the true test of implementing change or reform is when one is in power, not after losing power or being removed from office.

“I acknowledge that not all the reforms we aspire to can be implemented as quickly as we would like, but what matters is that we remain consistent and recognise that we are not ‘perfect’, while carrying out our duties to the best of our ability.

“My strength today is rooted in the strength of the party — its branches, grassroots networks, the youth wing and the women’s wing — which continue to fuel our determination to realise a Malaysia that is just, prosperous and dignified,” he said. - March 14, 2026
