A MAN was hacked to death in public by three men armed with parangs in a fight involving two groups in front of a restaurant in Bukit Kangkar, Tangkak, yesterday.

In the 7 pm incident, the victim, identified as Tong Wei Sheng, in his 30s, was confirmed dead upon arrival at the hospital due to injuries to his hands, legs and back.

Sources said that at the time of the incident, the victim and a friend went to the scene of the incident to meet with members of the group involved.

"There were four individuals seen chatting outside a restaurant, and shortly afterwards, several cars appeared at the location.

"Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed the victim being chased by three men, each carrying a machete and covering his face with a sweatshirt and mask.

"The victim, who was not carrying a weapon, tried to resist the attack with his hands, causing him to be seriously injured. The victim was confirmed to have died from his serious injuries.”

Meanwhile, Tangkak District Police Chief, Superintendent Roslan Mohd Talib, when contacted by Berita Harian, confirmed the incident and would issue a statement soon.

"Further investigations are still underway, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code," he said. – March 14, 2026
