A MAN was assaulted by three others for allegedly "staring" at another man who was believed to be drunk, while eating at a restaurant in Jalan Besar Kepong.

Sentul District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Basri Sagoni, said the case is still under investigation and the police are taking further action.

"The fight started when the victim, who was eating at the restaurant, allegedly stared at the suspect.

"The suspect, who was drunk, was not happy about it and confronted the victim before assaulting him," he said in a statement.

Basri said the suspect has been arrested and remanded until Thursday to assist in the investigation.

Earlier, a video recorded by a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera went viral on social media, showing three individuals attacking a man until he was injured at the restaurant.

The victim was punched, kicked and hit with various objects, including chairs and a kettle.

While the main suspect continued to assault the victim, his two friends later tried to calm him down, allowing the victim to flee. – May 12, 2026
