THE government has announced a 50 per cent toll discount in conjunction with the upcoming Aidilfitri celebrations, in a move aimed at easing the financial burden on travellers returning to their hometowns.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the initiative forms part of efforts to support the public during the festive period, particularly amid increased travel demand across the country.

"This initiative involves a financial commitment of RM21.03 million to compensate toll concessionaires.

"This discount will take effect from 12.01am on 18 March 2026 (Wednesday) until 11.59pm on 19 March 2026 (Thursday), covering Class 1 private vehicles on all highways, except at the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) Toll Plaza and the Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza on the Malaysia–Singapore Second Link (Linkedua)," he said in a statement.

The temporary reduction is expected to benefit millions of motorists as traffic volumes surge ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, with many opting to travel early to avoid peak congestion.

The measure underscores the government’s broader approach to managing festive season travel while providing targeted cost relief to road users nationwide. - March 17, 2026
