PM praises maturity of Islamic, Hindu NGOs in dealing with sensitive issues
Anwar said the efforts reflected the true spirit of Malaysia - March 19, 2026

PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim praised the peace efforts mobilised by non-governmental organisations (NGOs) representing the Muslim and Hindu communities as a step that reflects the people's maturity in dealing with sensitive issues.

He said the approach of choosing the path of peace and rejecting division proves that the spirit of mutual respect continues to be the foundation of the multi-racial society in this country.

"This reflects the level of maturity of the people in choosing the path of peace, rejecting division and upholding the spirit of mutual respect," he said in a statement today.

Anwar said the efforts reflected the true spirit of Malaysia, which stands on the values of kindness, togetherness and respect between the races.

According to him, this element of togetherness must continue to be preserved and strengthened as the basis of the country's strength.

"This is the true soul of Malaysia, a country that is strong on the values of kindness, togetherness and respect between the races. We must continue to preserve this togetherness as the basis of the country's strength," he said.

He also expressed his appreciation to all parties, including the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), which played a role in making the efforts a success.

“Hopefully, this effort will continue to unite us and become an example in strengthening national unity,” he said.

Yesterday, about 30 Malay-Muslim and Indian-Hindu NGOs agreed to urge that all racial issues involving the two races be resolved immediately by finding a comprehensive point of reconciliation.

Through the dialogue session, they also expressed their desire that a path of reconciliation through negotiations should be held to find common ground in resolving all arising problems. – March 19, 2026
