A WOMAN was found dead with stab wounds to the chest at their home in Taman Desa Murni, Sungai Dua in Butterworth, today.

The 52-year-old victim, a factory operator, was found lying covered in blood in a bedroom on the top floor of the terrace house at about 9.30 am, reported Berita Harian.

The victim's husband earlier felt something was wrong when his wife did not come down to prepare breakfast as usual.

He checked the bedroom, which was locked from the inside, and found her covered in blood.

Following this, a team from the Criminal Investigation Department, Sebarang Perai Utara District Police Headquarters (IPD), together with the police forensic team, investigated the scene of the incident.

The police also reportedly seized a knife at the scene.

It is understood that the victim was a psychiatric patient who is still undergoing treatment.

Initial investigations found no criminal elements.

The case has been classified as sudden death (SDR) pending the results of the autopsy scheduled to be conducted at the Seberang Jaya Hospital tomorrow. – March 20, 2026
