CABINET ministers and state leaders have called on Malaysians to use Aidilfitri as a moment to reinforce unity, compassion and shared responsibility, warning against division, excess and misinformation in an increasingly complex world.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said Hari Raya should be understood not merely as a celebration, but as a reflection of deeper values that sustain society, particularly in an era shaped by rapid technological change.
“Technology must be used to strengthen solidarity and spread kindness, not as dividers that separate us.
“As Malaysians living in a multicultural country, let’s carry on instilling values of mutual respect, tolerance and solidarity. These are the foundation of our country’s strength, the unity that springs forth from diversity,” he said in a video posted on Facebook.
National Unity Minister Aaron Ago Dagang echoed the call, urging Malaysians to embrace forgiveness and strengthen bonds across communities.
“May Syawal bring a ray of joy, happiness and prosperity to all. In the spirit of unity, let us continue to cultivate respect, kindness and concern for each other,” he said.
Human Resources Minister R Ramanan encouraged Malaysians to move forward together with renewed goodwill.
“Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir dan Batin. May the holy month of Syawal bring blessings, peace and happiness to us all,” he said.
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang also extended festive greetings while calling for the continued strengthening of the Malaysia Madani ethos.
Agriculture and Food Security Minister Mohamad Sabu highlighted the importance of discipline and responsible consumption, cautioning against panic buying driven by rumours.
“Do not let one or two rumours cause us to buy excessively. Purchase according to your needs, spend wisely, and avoid waste. Also support local products,” he said.
He added that preparedness in uncertain times should be seen as a sign of maturity rather than fear.
“I am confident that the Madani Government will continue to protect the people with all its capabilities, but the public must also help by spreading the truth and avoiding slander and fake news,” he said.
Women, Family and Community Development Minister Nancy Shukri said Aidilfitri should be a platform to strengthen relationships across all backgrounds.
“May the spirit of togetherness continue to flourish, and may we all be blessed with lasting health, happiness, and prosperity,” she said.
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming urged Malaysians to forgive and move forward in unity, while Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Arthur Joseph Kurup promoted environmentally conscious celebrations.
“We share the same Earth, therefore the responsibility of preserving environmental sustainability is a trust that transcends religion and race. May the joy of this year’s Syawal bring blessings without leaving a burden on the environment for the future,” he said.
Defence Minister Mohamed Khaled Nordin reminded the public not to forget the sacrifices of armed forces personnel on duty, while Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad expressed appreciation to frontline workers.
Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail called on Malaysians to prioritise safety while travelling during the festive period.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Zulkifli Hasan urged moderation and mindfulness amid global instability.
“In the joy of celebrating Aidilfitri, we must never forget our brothers and sisters who are facing severe trials in Gaza, Sudan, and around the world,” he said.
At the state level, leaders similarly emphasised unity and reconciliation as central themes of the celebration.
Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun described Aidilfitri as an opportunity to strengthen relationships and seek forgiveness.
“Maaf zahir dan batin from me and my family. May this Aidilfitri bring happiness, peace, and blessings to all,” he said.
Pahang Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail called on the public to reinforce family and community ties, while Perak Menteri Besar Saarani Mohamad stressed the importance of preserving relationships.
“May all our good deeds in Ramadan be accepted by Allah SWT, and may the bonds of love between us continue to strengthen with sincerity,” he said.
Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said unity and values must underpin development.
“We believe that a state’s progress is measured not only by physical development or economic indicators, but also by the strength of values, the integrity of its institutions, as well as the unity and well-being of its people,” he said. - March 21, 2026
