HEALTH Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, has urged the public to be more vigilant against extreme hot weather following the increase in cases of heat stroke in the country.

According to him, throughout this year, 15 cases related to hot weather have been recorded, including one death involving a child.

“The current extreme hot weather requires us all to be more aware of health risks, especially heat stroke,” he wrote on Facebook today.

Dzulkefly said the public should immediately identify the early signs of heat stroke, such as prolonged dizziness, extreme thirst and increased body temperature.

“If you experience these symptoms, immediately find a shady spot, drink plenty of plain water and cool your body down immediately,” he said.

He also reminded the public not to take safety aspects lightly, especially involving children.

“Never leave children or anyone else in a vehicle unattended, even for a short period of time,” he stressed.

In the meantime, he advised the public to refer to the infographic shared by the Ministry of Health as a guide to preventive measures.

“Early prevention is key. Stay healthy and make sure your body is always hydrated,” he added. – March 23, 2026
